Jessie Chapman and the Radiance team have been sharing their home of Byron Bay and surrounds – with its beautiful coastal stretch and lush subtropical rainforest – since 2002, and their love for this special place is at the heart of each Byron Bay yoga retreat.

Staying in ocean-view retreat accommodation within walking distance to the beach, this all-inclusive 5-night Byron Bay Yoga Restore Wellness Retreat brings together morning and afternoon yoga and restoration, guided beach and coastal trail walks, all-organic meals, massage, yoga nidra, and other healing arts. Days are spent moving between the yoga hall, the beach, the coastal trails, and the delicious meals – with the ocean air, birdsong, and natural stillness all part of the retreat journey.

Retreat Hosts

Your Byron Bay yoga retreat hosts are Jessie Chapman and the Radiance team – a warm and experienced group of facilitators who have been sharing yoga retreats Byron Bay for many years.

Jessie has been teaching yoga since 1997 and is passionate about yoga as a nourishing tool for life – in particular restorative yoga to replenish the body’s systems, quieten the mind, and cultivate emotional stability. She is the author of four yoga books (HarperCollins) including the bestseller Yoga Postures for Your Body, Mind & Soul and co-creator of the Radiance Yoga DVD Series.

Joining Jessie are experienced facilitators Lee Purdie and Anthea Amore – both part of the Radiance family for many years, bringing warmth, yoga adjustments, and genuine care to every class and every day. Anthea also coordinates our in-house spa treatments and the retreat’s organic plant-based menu, and Lee brings her love of movement through yogadance and guided walks. Meet the team >

Yoga, Restoration & Stillness

Each day on our yoga retreats Byron Bay is centred around morning and afternoon yoga, restoration and stillness, combined with guided beach and coastal trail walks. The yoga classes are suitable for all – from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners.

Jessie’s morning yoga classes combine gentle flowing sequences with breath awareness, along with holding postures longer to cultivate alignment, flexibility, and strength. Whether you’re looking for a more dynamic practice or to move gently and restore deeply – each morning class meets you where you are, with variations and modifications for different energy levels and needs. Afternoon classes are restorative yoga to deeply relax, slow the body’s systems, and replenish natural energy levels. Yoga props are used and guests receive an abundance of guidance and adjustments from Jessie and the team. Evening classes include yoga nidra and pranayama – guided relaxation and breathing before bed to promote deep sleep. Other retreat classes include pre-lunch guided seated or walking meditation, core strength or restoration, along with an evening sound journey and other healing arts. You are always welcome to rest and skip a class when needed.

Jessie and facilitators bring a genuine love of yoga and deep care for each guest’s practice – meeting everyone where they are and ensuring everyone feels supported and well looked after throughout the retreat.

Beach Walks & Coastal Trails

Each day on our Byron Bay yoga retreat we head out each day on guided beach and coastal trail walks – exploring the region’s stunning beaches, the Cape Byron Lighthouse headland where dolphins are often spotted, and nearby coastal rainforest trails.

Jessie and Lee know these trails intimately and love sharing all they have to offer. Each walk includes gentle periods of silence, allowing time to absorb the beauty and spaciousness of the natural surroundings.

Our daily walks include optional ocean or tea-tree lake dips along the way – or you may prefer to simply rest in the retreat surrounds, read, swim in the ozone pool, enjoy an in-house treatment or a restorative nap.

Retreat Meals

Our Byron Bay wellness retreat meals are lovingly prepared by the Organic Passion catering team using fresh, organic, plant-based ingredients. The menu is abundant, energising, and always a highlight of the retreat. Free from meat, dairy, wheat, cane sugar, processed and oily foods, the meals gently support cleansing and renewal, without leaving you hungry. Each morning after yoga, we enjoy a fresh juice and a vibrant buffet breakfast. Lunch is another generous buffet, and dinner is a nourishing soup to support restful sleep. All meals are gluten-free, with dietary requirements catered for. All day beverages and fruits are available along with filtered water and nourishing supplements for extra support. Guests can dine in the dining room, on the ocean-view deck, or in the quiet marquee for those wishing to enjoy their meals in silence. Our caterer Anthea is the author of two bestselling cookbooks – available to purchase on retreat or in the Radiance online store – and hosts a cooking chat and demonstration during the retreat, sharing her love of organic food.

Accommodation

For this Byron Bay yoga retreat we stay at Sangsurya Retreat, located 3 km from the heart of Byron Bay. Set on 10 acres of tropical gardens with an ocean-view ozone pool, ocean-view dining deck, a spacious wooden-floor yoga hall, and tastefully furnished Asian-inspired rooms and cabins – each with air conditioning, fans, and ensuite bathrooms. Throughout the retreat there are lovely indoor and outdoor relaxation spaces and daybeds to rest, read, and simply be. The retreat is surrounded by abundant birdlife, fresh sea air, and the sounds of the natural world.

Sangsurya has a natural stillness and retreat guests often find themselves drawn to the gardens and pool between sessions, watching the birdlife, reading in the sun, or simply sitting quietly. The slow evening journey between dinner and yoga nidra towards sleep is nourished by the beautiful night sky above the gardens.

The beach, tea-tree lake, and coastal trails are all within walking distance – and Byron Bay town is close by for those who want to explore.

Arrival & Departure


Getting Here
Our Byron Bay yoga retreat is located at Sangsurya Retreat, 3 km from Byron Bay town centre. The closest airports are Ballina Byron Gateway Airport (approximately 25 minutes away) and Gold Coast Coolangatta Airport (approximately 45 minutes away). Airport shuttle transfers are available from both airports – detailed information on shuttle companies and how to get here easily is emailed upon registering.

Arrival Day
Guests are welcome to arrive from 9:00 am onwards. A welcome buffet lunch is available between 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm, and our first yoga class and group gathering begins at 5:00 pm. Everyone arrives at different times throughout the day – we encourage you to arrive as early as you can to settle in, explore the retreat grounds, have a massage, enjoy a swim, or simply relax. If arriving later in the day, we’re happy to put aside lunch for you.

Departure Day
On our final morning we enjoy yoga and a relaxed farewell breakfast at 9:00 am. Check-out is by 12:00 pm. If you have a later scheduled bus pick-up, you’re welcome to leave your bags at the retreat until 3:30 pm.

Extra Night Accommodation
An extra night’s accommodation is available the night before the retreat begins, with check-in between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm. Please email for details.
