Yoga, Restoration & Stillness

Each day on our yoga retreats in New Zealand is centred around morning and afternoon yoga, combined with guided hiking through breathtaking landscapes. All classes are suitable for every level – from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. Guests receive individual guidance and hands-on adjustments from Jessie and Lee, with props provided throughout.

Jessie’s morning classes combine gentle flowing sequences with breath awareness and longer held postures to cultivate strength, flexibility, correct alignment, and awareness. Afternoons are restorative yoga – a slower, quieter practice to deeply rest the body, slow the body’s systems, and replenish natural energy levels. As evening falls, yoga nidra and pranayama guide you into stillness, calming the mind and nervous system for deep, restful sleep.

Hiking Trails – New Zealand Yoga Retreat

The Wanaka area offers some of the most spectacular hiking in New Zealand – with stunning lakes, National Parks, mountains, rivers, and glaciers all within reach. Our hiking days – or ‘tramping’ as they say in New Zealand – are about the journey, allowing time to soak in the beautiful sights and sounds along the way.

Each day we set out together from the lodge, exploring a different trail through this beautiful yoga retreat New Zealand landscape. Trails average approximately 7-12 km per day with varying elevation – with options to take a flatter trail or go higher depending on how the group is feeling on the day.

Highlights include lake walks with turquoise water views, mountain trails through native bush, and river valley routes. Our hiking days incorporate periods of silent walking – a simple complement to the yoga practice, allowing time to fully absorb the natural surroundings.

Guests who prefer an easier pace are catered for and there’s always the option to enjoy a rest day and simply relax in the beautiful surrounds. Full hiking details and a what-to-bring list are emailed upon registration for your yoga retreat NZ.

Retreat Meals

Our New Zealand yoga retreat meals are prepared by a passionate local caterer using fresh, seasonal produce.

Breakfasts are a hearty buffet with plenty of variety to fuel the day’s hiking. Lunches are packed sandwiches with tasty trail treats to carry in our daypacks – enjoyed in stunning outdoor settings along the way. Dinners are warm, abundant, and nourishing – a lovely way to end a full day of yoga and hiking on our yoga retreats in New Zealand.

Fresh water, teas, coffee, and fruit are available throughout the day. All meals are vegetarian with vegan, gluten free, and special dietary requirements catered for with advance notice.
